Invest in Time Away From Your Business
Want to know an important way to grow your business? Invest in time AWAY from the business. Yes, you read that right!
I'm saying that spending time away from your business will actually help to grow your business. This may seem counterintuitive, but let me explain...
Maintaining a healthy work schedule and not being in the office 24/7 is important for both your sanity and your business’s ability to keep moving forward. You need to put time and energy into the things that matter most in your life--and the things that are going to make a positive difference for your business.
Being an entrepreneur is a journey and not a race to be won. When you dedicate the majority of your weekdays to being in the office or in front of the screen, crossing things off your ever-growing to-do list, you'll quickly deplete yourself. You'll also miss out on the things that help you grow as a person and entrepreneur.
It is all about balance and taking the time out from work to focus on personal development. You have to manage your schedule -- and that includes intentionally blocking out time away from the office. This is going to feel like pulling teeth, but in the long run, you are going to be thankful for it. Trust me I know how hard it can be to set aside the will to keep growing your business, but it boils down to energy. If you don’t have the energy later on in your business, that success you dream of will not be fulfilled.
To be able to grow your company, you HAVE to take the time, distraction-free, to focus on your business. Time away, which can even be one hour a week, should be spent learning something new, honing your craft, talking with a coach or mentor, going to a networking event, or focusing on something that refreshes your mind.
If you are always in the weeds of your business, consumed by the daily tasks and responsibilities, you will not have time to focus on your vision, make plans for the future, or strategize growth.
